The Corporate Food Safety Associate works exclusively for the Food Safety Division of Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. This position acts as the responsible party for maintaining and overseeing the company’s food safety management systems. The responsibilities of this role are comprehensive, requiring the administrator to establish operational programs that ensure the safe production, procurement, and importation of all food items. Directs and administers corporate food safety efforts while assisting in planning, directing, and coordinating compliance across various branch operations. As a non-exempt employee, the administrator ensures accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency daily.
Essential Job Functions:
Regulatory Compliance & Oversight
• Regulatory Compliance: Establishes, monitors, and ensures total compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations (including FDA, USDA, and FSMA).
• Reporting & Documentation: Submits all required regulatory reports to the appropriate agencies in an accurate and timely manner.
• Incident Investigation: Investigates food safety violations, coordinates comprehensive root-cause investigations, establishes corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and recommends policy updates to prevent recurrence.
• Audit Management: Arranges and conducts periodic food safety and compliance inspections across various branch locations. Communicates audit findings and actionable results clearly to branch management and key stakeholders.
Operational Food Safety & Quality Control
• Quality Assurance: Ensures finished goods strictly adhere to both customer specifications and internal company quality control guidelines.
• Policy Maintenance: Establishes, implements, and maintains branch policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure absolute consistency with corporate standards.
• HACCP & Pathogen Control: Supports the organization by providing direction on environmental pathogen prevention, monitoring, and validation. Provides expert HACCP guidance, conducts thorough HACCP plan reviews, and validates safety protocols.
• Daily Communications: Consults with management daily regarding production schedules, operational bottlenecks, and personnel matters specifically relating to food safety and compliance.
Branch Support
• Training Support: Provide food safety training/ best practice across all branches, covering food safety, quality assurance, and environmental concerns.
• International Collaboration: Establishes and maintains seamless communication lines regarding food safety matters with the FDA, USDA, third-party consultants, corporate management, and global branches (including Tokyo and Shanghai).
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
• Understanding of FDA and USDA regulations, with specific, advanced knowledge of FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) rules, including Preventive Controls for Human Food and Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP).
• Knowledge of HACCP principles, hazard analysis, and validation protocols.
• Working knowledge of environmental pathogen monitoring, cross-contamination prevention, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within food distribution and importation.
• Understanding of investigative methodologies used to identify the source of food safety violations and create effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Proficient in planning, conducting, and documenting physical food safety compliance audits across decentralized branch locations.
• Ability to draft clear, concise regulatory reports, design corporate compliance policies, and build scannable standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Skills in organizing, verifying, and maintaining highly accurate compliance databases and training logs to ensure audit readiness at any moment.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory rules into engaging, digestible best-practice training sessions for diverse branch employees and management teams.
• Skilled at collaborating and maintaining clear lines of communication with regulatory bodies, external consultants, and international corporate branches (such as Tokyo and Shanghai).
• Ability to evaluate operational bottlenecks, investigate complex quality incidents, and develop practical solutions without compromising food safety standards.
• Ability to pivot quickly, manage multiple tasks under tight time constraints, and efficiently reallocate focus in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Ability to establish immediate rapport, trust, and professional authority with external regulators, domestic branch managers, and international partners.
• Ability to work smoothly as a supportive, non-exempt team player within the larger Food Safety Division while confidently acting as the responsible party for systems oversight.
• Ability to work occasional flexible hours (evenings/weekends) to accommodate international communications or urgent audits, and the physical capacity to tolerate freezing temperatures during cold-storage facility inspections.
