Job Description

The Food Runner – Good Times Café is responsible for delivering food and beverage orders to guests quickly and accurately while providing courteous and professional guest service. This position supports servers by maintaining a clean and stocked service area and ensures proper food presentation and delivery in alignment with service standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers food and beverages promptly and accurately using pivot point service standards to ensure efficiency, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Follows proper serving techniques and presentation standards for all menu items and beverages.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation standards, to answer guest inquiries and assist servers.
  • Provides outstanding guest service with professionalism, attentiveness, and a welcoming attitude at all times.
  • Prioritizes and expedites VIP, special, and to-go orders with urgency, accuracy, and attention to detail, ensuring order completeness and quality presentation.
  • Busses, cleans, and resets tables quickly and efficiently to maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready dining environment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the workstation, food service line, and dining areas throughout the shift.
  • Prepares and restocks sides, condiments, garnishes, and accompanying items to support timely and accurate food service.
  • Replenishes supplies at service stations, including silverware, napkins, condiments, glassware, and other dining essentials, to ensure readiness throughout service periods.
  • Assists with stocking the bakery and other designated areas as directed by supervisors to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Fosters effective communication and coordination between kitchen, front-of-house, and support staff to ensure smooth, accurate, and timely service delivery.
  • Completes assigned opening, closing, and daily side work duties in accordance with operational and cleanliness standards.
  • Adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling, cleaning, and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times by adhering to all grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Verifies guest identification to ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and adheres to all ABC regulations, RBS training standards, and internal policies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support overall departmental success and guest satisfaction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a high regard for guest service.
  • Must be organized, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Prior experience in a food service or guest-facing role preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional coursework in hospitality or food service is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a food service or restaurant environment.
  • Familiarity with basic food handling procedures, plate presentation, and table service standards.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with kitchen and service staff.
  • Prior experience in a café, casino, resort, or fast-casual dining venue is preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries trays, plates, utensils, and food items weighing up to 30 pounds; may involve maneuvering through crowded or narrow service areas.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and fingers to carry trays, set tables, handle utensils, and support proper plate presentation during service.
  • Mobility: Continuously moves between kitchen and dining areas; requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Stationary Work: Rarely remains seated; duties are performed while moving quickly and efficiently between service zones.
  • Tool Operation: Occasional use of tray stands, warming stations, and communication devices as needed to support food delivery operations.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires near and far vision to identify table numbers, read tickets, and ensure food accuracy and presentation meet standards.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in fast-paced kitchen and dining environments with exposure to heat, crowded walkways, and food service equipment. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
