The Food Runner's main objective is to be the liaison between the kitchen and wait staff. Expeditors should be passionate and self-starters who ensure our meal services run smoothly. They make sure food orders are prepared promptly while checking the orders for accuracy and finalizing additional requests to confirm the ticket is ready for serving.

Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, answering commonly asked questions, and moving the guest through the transaction process promptly.

  • Be familiar with all menu items, products, sides, dressings, sauces, toppings, garnishes, and most importantly, food allergies.

  • Accurately prepare all orders according to the ticket.

  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance.

  • Be the bridge between FOH and BOH regarding food orders by communicating clearly with the kitchen and wait staff.

  • Have a pleasant demeanor and work well as a team with other staff members.

  • Perform opening and closing duties as well as rotate and keep products stocked throughout the day.

  • Clean and sanitize service stations and keep them in an orderly manner throughout the shift.

  • Advise Management when certain products are running low and need to be reordered.

  • Have working knowledge of restaurant terms and requests for both BOH and FOH.

  • Be aware of ticket times and server pickup times.

  • Accountable for accurate time keeping. Responsible for clocking in and out with their employee pass.

  • Complete any reasonable task assigned by the supervisor.

  • Observe mountain-wide policies found in the Employee Handbook.

Secondary Function

  • Assist with bussing tables and food running, as well as dishwashing duties.

  • Snow removal duties.

Job Scope

Position does not have any supervisory or decision-making responsibilities. Provide problem-solving assistance when needed.

Interpersonal Contacts

The position will have constant guest and employee interaction.

Specific Job Skills/Certifications

  • License/Certifications: Oregon Food Handler’s Card and OLCC permit.

  • Technical: Competent with computers and willing to learn the Point of Sale system.

  • Physical Capabilities: Able to stand for long periods of time while using hands.

  • Additional: Must have a positive attitude. Flexible with hours and days of work. Able to work any hours of the day, any day of the week. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Superb customer service and problem-solving skills. Must work well under pressure.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum education required Some high school, diploma, or GED preferred.

  • Minimum time in related position Food service operations experience of 1-3 years preferred.

    • In addition to the specific conditions below, every position at Mt. Bachelor requires the ability to shovel snow, lift up to 10 pounds, and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.

  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to frequently bend, reach, climb, push, pull, lift over 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, the position will require frequent visual concentration, rapid reactions to changes, and the utilization of hand/eye coordination.

Current Hiring Rate $16.50/hr

Minimum Age Requirement: 18+
