Job Description

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
• Our Community Outreach Services program helps individuals and families move beyond emergencies to more stable and stronger home lives. COS encompasses the following three components.
• Health and Wellness Services engages the community in interactive health and wellness workshops, support groups, events and resource fairs that cover daily needs including healthy living, COVID 19 and parenting.
• Community Outreach Centers (formerly walk in center). Our Outreach Specialists assess the individuals needs and respond with information, resources, and limited financial assistance.
• Food Resource Services operates a network of 20 food pantries (in partnership with parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn). Our network helps distribute more than 3 million meals to 300,000 people. Meals include shelf stable items, dairy, meats and fresh produce.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The Food Resource Associate will be required to ensure the smooth operations and maintenance of the Food Pantry Network and Community Health & Wellness events.
• Supports the deliveries of food resources to the network of food pantries– checking invoices, stocking and organizing.
• Maintains clean and orderly food pantries
• Breakdown of boxes and disposal of cardboard as per Dept. of Sanitation Recycling regulations. Empty waste baskets and garbage cans.
• Provides support to Community Program Services, Office of Mission and Health and Wellness Initiative Educator staff in the set up and breakdown of chairs and tables as necessitated to accommodate various events and workshops.
• Collection of donations from various organizations as needed in addition to annual Toy Drive donations from parishes and organizations.
• Adheres to all funding source standards in addition to the Agency (Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens) policies and procedures; seeks guidance/clarification from their immediate supervisor regarding interpretation, applicability, and implementation.
• Strictly adheres to and enforces all the Agency policies regarding Confidentiality, HIPAA requirements, and Corporate Compliance regulations.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Community Programming, Associate Director of Health and Wellness Initiative and Supervisor of Food Resource Services

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or GED preferred; may be waived for 2 years relevant experience.
• Valid driver's license, proof of department of motor vehicles driving history, 3 years of current driving experience with no more than one moving violation in the previous 24 months (2 years), and no driving while intoxicated convictions
• Valid Food Safety Certificate preferred
• Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight 50 pounds including the occasional moving of furniture and setting up and replacing chairs, etc.
• Able to travel throughout the five boroughs as needed.
• Ability to transport necessary supplies to and from locations as needed.
• Ability to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) as assigned.
