Job Title: Food Pantry Manager

FLSA Status Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Business Manager/Corps Officers

Schedule: 40 hours weekly
Supervises: n/a

Rate of Pay $19.00

Function

The Pantry Manager position oversees and coordinates The Salvation Army’s Food Pantry program. Working with the Corps Officers, Utah Food Bank, and the local Health Department they ensure we maintain the highest level of food safety within the program. Additionally, they work with staff to schedule, recruit, and oversee volunteers to help sustain and improve the food pantry program all while adhering to all policies and governing laws pertaining to volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Food Pantry program.
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers, or others, who will help deliver assistance to the public.
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers who are stocking and preparing food pantry prior to pantry open hours.
  • Work with staff and vendors to make additional food orders as needed, from Bishop Storehouse.
  • Work with staff to coordinate pickup and delivery of additional donations.
  • Regularly report services provided into WellSky database.
  • Provide accurate monthly reports as required by The Salvation Army and the Utah Food Bank.
  • Ensure adherence with Utah Food Bank policies, including equitable distribution
  • Ensure all USDA guidelines are followed, and required signage is posted
  • Attend events and network with community partners concerning Food Insecurity and Pantry programs
  • Make and stock hygiene and snack packs for distribution through the front office.
  • Work with the Social Services Director and Corps Officers to find and implement better ways of serving clients through the Food Pantry program.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Corps Officer within the position's scope.

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Experience working professionally and effectively with clients, staff and others of diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Compassion for the poor and willingness to learn policies related to Salvation Army Social Service programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Current Driver's License
  • Detail-orientated, with the ability to plan, direct and complete complex tasks
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of both clients and volunteers, demonstrating good leadership and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision, and high standards of professional ethics and conduct.

Requirements

  • Driving

If the position requires driving:

  • The employee must be 21 years old at minimum (for insurance provision) and possess a valid in-state driver’s license
  • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies
  • Background Check
    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies
  • Physical
    • Ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25 pounds, to access and produce information from the computer, to operate telephone, to understand written information
    • Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
