Job Purpose The Food Distribution Supervisor plays a critical role in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of food assistance activities, ensuring that all distributions are conducted in compliance with WVI and WFP operational standards and guidelines. Working closely with camp-level commodity management teams, the supervisor promotes effective commodity handling, storage, stock control, and distribution practices, while strengthening warehouse management systems and ensuring the timely, transparent, and accountable delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

The position also requires maintaining strong coordination and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders, including RRS, WFP, UNHCR, and Refugee Central Committees (RCCs), to support effective programme planning, implementation, and operational efficiency within the refugee camps.

Major Responsibilities

Community Engagement

  • Community sensitization and awareness
  • In some cases, this involves engaging with communities, conducting needs assessments, and building capacity
  • Engage refugee beneficiaries in food distribution activities

Coordination and Networking

  • Collaborate with other stakeholders, build relationships, and coordinate activities.
  • Participate in the pre and post distribution meetings
  • Participate in the camp coordination meetings
  • Approach community leaders like RCC and food management lcommmittee leaders

Food Distribution, Documenting and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of activities, progress, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate the distribution and implementation of all WFP activities of woreda by closely working with program team, commodity staff and stakeholders at woreda level.
  • Ensure the best management of food commodities as per the minimum commodity management standards by communicating and acting with commodity team at head office and woreda level
  • Lead the planning and implementation of food distribution to project participants in a timely manner and to the best standard required by closely working with the key partners.
  • Supervise and lead the commodity team at Terkidi Refugee camp level to insure best commodity management practice in warehousing and distribution to project participants on timely manner.
  • Provide written reports, data and etc. to the line supervisor and concerned commodity staff constantly in the course of the program implementation.
  • Maintain a strong and smooth relationship with Terkidi Refugee Camp stakeholders in planning and implementing the program
  • Maintain and demonstrate a decent and respectful manner in serving the target community and in interacting with the society in general.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification:

  • BA/BSc Degree/ in Agric. Econ, Disaster Management, Rural Development, and Economics &Dev’s. Studies

Required Professional Experience:

  • 3 Yrs. and above experience

Required Language(s)

  • Amharic
  • English
  • Knowledge of Local Language is advantages

Required travel and/or work environment requirements

  • Field-based with some travel to the office
