Paid Bi-weekly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have at least (1) one year of cooking experience in a commercial or cafeteria-style setting (excluding fast food)
  • Must be willing and able to become a Certified Food Manager upon hire (training will be provided at the facility)
  • Must be willing and able to work 10-hour shifts
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to work in Lake City, Florida
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food preparation experience in a Long-Term care facility

Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Food Service Administrator in the day-to-day food service operation at the State Veterans' Domiciliary Home. Incumbent will ensure that food is stored, prepared, distributed and served under sanitary conditions in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with state and facility safety procedures in the operation of food production and cleaning of equipment. Ensures that clean and sanitary conditions are maintained in all areas of the kitchen food preparation and serving lines. Operates and maintains equipment used according to FDVA procedures.

  • Prepare and cook all foods. Assist in preparation of all cold foods. Pull and prep foods for the following 3 days menu
  • Set up steam wells and hot foods for all meals
  • Assist with checking in and putting away grocery orders. Rotating stock throughout (dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers). Stock dining room and resident kitchens
  • Assembles, disassembles, and operates dishwashing machine, food chopper, etc., and cleans machines following manufacturer's instructions
  • Maintain dish room, serving area, dining room, and food storage areas in an orderly and sanitary condition
  • Clean all dishes utilizing sanitary techniques
  • Performs general cleaning duties to maintain area in a sanitary condition (examples - cleans food carts, gaskets on refrigerator and freezer doors, walls, floors, windows, ceiling, counters, tables and chairs, stoves, trashcans, refrigerators, freezers, washes pots and pans. Scrapes, de-stains, and washes dishes, glasses, silverware, and takes out trash). Daily and weekly assigned cleaning, as well as any other cleaning assigned by your supervisor
  • Keep chemicals in chemical room and keeps chemical room clean and organized (everything off floor). Keep all hand soap and paper towel dispensers filled throughout the kitchen and foodservice restroom
  • Prepare bag lunches and make HS sandwiches/snacks. Record all temperatures in temperature book (food and equipment)
  • Report all faulty equipment to supervisor
  • Attends in-service training classes, department and staff meetings as required
  • Performs all other duties assigned by your supervisor
