Food & Beverage Manager - Fallsview Grand Buffet

This position is responsible for ensuring service teams provide warm, attentive, efficient, and guest-focused food and beverage service at all times in a high-volume buffet restaurant environment serving hotel guests, families, groups, and tour business.
Responsibilities:
The Food & Beverage Manager for Fallsview Grand Buffet will ensure courteous and superior quality service is provided to all guests. The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for creating and driving a profitable, efficient, safe, and service-focused restaurant operation within a high-volume buffet environment. This role will lead through a unionized workforce and is responsible for maintaining productive labour relations, administering the collective agreement fairly and consistently, and partnering with Human Resources and other departments as required. The Food & Beverage Manager will recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, coach, evaluate, and counsel management and team members; ensure guest satisfaction through strong service execution and floor presence; enforce operating equipment, cash control, health and safety, sanitation, and service standards; complete inventory checks and departmental reports; and work closely with culinary, stewarding, front office, and other hotel teams to ensure the operation runs effectively and efficiently. The position is expected to create annual and semi-annual business plans, strategies, and controls, including revenue maximization, cost control, labour planning, and management development.
Qualifications
• Previous accomplished experience as a Food & Beverage Manager or Assistant Restaurant Manager in a comparable high-volume hotel, buffet, or resort restaurant environment
• Four to five years of progressive food and beverage leadership experience, ideally within a unionized environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to negotiate, influence, coach, and build credibility with the Food and Beverage management team, unionized team members, other hotel and resort leaders, guests, and/or corporate clients
• Commitment and passion to maximizing guest satisfaction in each stage of the guest experience
• Establishes immediate credibility with guests and staff - leads all staff by example
• Willingness/enjoyment to attend to the needs of others
• Contributes to the profitability and guest satisfaction perception of other hotel departments
• Approachable and establishes immediate credibility with guests and staff
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain professional composure at all times, regardless of issue, while performing multiple tasks among staff, multiple guests/multiple items/products
• Employ persuasion and influence to initiate and/or resolve matters
• Ability to lead and supervise a large team of operating staff in a unionized environment
• Demonstrate personal involvement and supervision to ensure the workplace is safe for all guests and staff. Enforces all health and safety/sanitation standards
• Sets the primary example to all Food and Beverage management and staff with respect to outstanding attention to detail, passionate and responsive service to our guests
• Manages in compliance with established resort policies and procedures, the collective agreement, and all applicable local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations
• Implement and manage all related resort programs to ensure compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures including safety and sanitary, licensing, and all related federal and local regulations to ensure optimal levels of service are provided to the guests
