The Houseperson plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and organization within various vessels in San Francisco and Berkeley. This position supports the housekeeping and maintenance teams by ensuring that public spaces, corridors, and back-of-house areas are clean, tidy, and well-stocked. The Houseperson contributes to creating a positive guest experience by upholding high standards of cleanliness and assisting in the smooth operation of the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Maintenance:
● Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in public areas, corridors, and back-of-house spaces.
● Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
● Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
● Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed.
● Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards in designated areas.
Supply Management:
● Restock housekeeping carts with linens, toiletries, and cleaning supplies.
● Ensure adequate stock levels of supplies in storage areas.
● Report any shortages or damaged items to the appropriate supervisor.
Collaboration and Communication:
● Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance staff to prioritize tasks and address any maintenance issues.
● Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations.
● Report any maintenance or safety hazards to the appropriate department for resolution.
Adherence to Safety and Compliance Standards:
● Follow established safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
● Adhere to cleanliness standards and guidelines set by the organization and regulatory authorities.
● Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly.
● Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and best practices to prevent accidents, injuries, or damage to property.
● Must be able to lift 50+ lbs on a consistent basis.
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
● Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role preferred but not required.
● Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and organization.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent communication and customer service skills.
● Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
● Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
