Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier of marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing.

Job Title: FMOS CO Op Date: April 2026
Reports To: Ops Director

We are seeking a dynamic team member to join our team as an on-site FMOS Co-Op for 3-4 months to support continuous improvement initiatives in operations. Gain hands-on experience by enhancing efficiency, optimizing workflows, and improving production processes. The ideal candidate embodies FMD’s core values: Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
• Support process optimization for workflows, production layouts, and material handling.
• Develop and implement visual management tools to improve organization and communication.
• Assist in creating and improving systems for kit drop-off areas, WIP lanes, Kanban processes, and NCR isolation zones.
• Collaborate with operations, production, and supply chain teams to align project goals.
• Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Participate in hands-on activities to implement continuous improvement projects.
• Demonstrate FMD’s core values: Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork

Qualifications
• Enrolled in a degree program in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CAD or similar tools is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, visual management, and process improvement principles is preferred.
• A proactive, adaptable mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Must work on-site during the co-op term.
