Job Description

Performs fluoro procedures for our pain management clinic as well as radiographic exams to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing the following duties. Follows established policies and procedures set by Gaylord Hospital and all regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Clinical Role and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the C-arm to perform fluoro procedures with the pain management doctor
  • Assists where needed for all pain management procedures
  • Performs diagnostic radiology studies as ordered by a LP, by following established protocols and selecting correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age and diagnosis to produce a technically excellent image to assist the radiologist in the diagnosis.
  • Maintains radiology equipment in good operating order. Cleans and disinfects equipment and area after each use.
  • Routinely prepares fluoro images and x-rays for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Sets up images properly in the PACS system.
  • Records all charges and other relevant information using hospital tracking system
  • On-call responsibilities: takes call as necessary to ensure that radiology services are available whenever the department is needed.

Quality and Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of radiation protection devices and adhering to radiation safety standards in order to protect patient and staff and to comply with regulatory agencies
  • Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to the supervisor.
  • Calls for repairs on equipment when instructed to do so.
  • Provides patient centered care and demonstrates evidence based practice and standards of care
  • Adherence to hospital infection prevention, hygiene and security guidelines

Communication:

  • Explains procedure to patient to reduce anxiety and to obtain patient cooperation.
  • Upholds interdepartmental communication skills
  • Remains up to date with hospital and department communication including: email, FYI, employee meetings and department meetings.

Professionalism:

  • Maintain work area in an orderly manner.
  • Keeps licensure and CEU requirements up to date
  • Volunteers for any hospital committees
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide evidence based practices and care and remains current on industry standards, developments, and new techniques and trends.
  • Adheres to standards and guidelines of PHI and HIPAA regulations
  • Reliable and punctual

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of accredited radiology program and 3-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT)
  • Current Connecticut State License
  • BLS certification
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies
