Our Water Quality & Environment Team have an exciting opportunity for you to join as our new Flow Compliance Specialist

In your new role, you’ll be expected to take responsibility for company level compliance and dynamic external reporting demands. The role holder will be required to analyse, understand and interpret complex regulatory frameworks, translating them into actionable guidelines ready for practical application by operational teams.

You will also be expected to continuously drive tangible improvement in our reporting and compliance standards. As well as being expected to manage multiple demanding priorities at any one time and be skilled at managing expectations outside the team.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Translate complex regulatory frameworks into clear operational guidance and ensure adherence through effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.

  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g., Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, OFWAT) and act as subject matter expert for MCERTS flow measurement and reporting.

  • Lead improvement initiatives - sizing opportunities, securing stakeholder buyin, and implementing enhancements across teams and the wider business.

  • Support development and evolution of compliance dashboards, staying responsive to changing business and regulatory requirements.

  • Benchmark against the wider water industry to identify best practice and help shape future regulation.

  • Identify and drive improvements across EPA measures and Water Quality ODI performance.



WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

If you have a real passion for data analytics and want to put those advanced, IT skills to the test then this may be the role for you!

We are looking for someone adept at using advanced data tools to clean, model, analyse and visualise large, complex operational datasets—delivering clear insights that support regulatory compliance and operational decision making.

Experience of applying strong data driven problem solving techniques to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities across flow monitoring and environmental performance data is what we are after.

Having a strong technical knowledge of waste processes (Networks and Recycling) and working in operational and regulatory environments or knowledge and understanding of the MCERTS Self-Monitoring of Flow scheme and how to apply this would be desirable.

Key skills it is expected that you will have:

• Background in data analysis/data science.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient in Power Bi

• Previous experience working in a regulated environment is desirable.

A full UK driving license
