Job Description

Flow Assurance Specialist

Would you like to lead integrated solutions that unlock additional value from mature fields?

Join our team

Baker Hughes is a global energy‑technology company operating in more than 120 countries. We deliver innovative solutions that make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient. Our teams help customers maximize asset value by improving recovery, extending field life, and implementing sustainable production strategies across mature and developing assets.

Partner with the best

As a Flow Assurance Specialist you will be Identifying, diagnosing, and mitigating flow assurance risks in a way that is directly linked to production reliability and project bankability. The flow assurance specialist should have worked on projects that progressed from fluid characterization, concept design, and pre-FEED/FEED into execution, commissioning or operational implementation, and performance monitoring. The role requires working knowledge of the individual products, chemicals, monitoring systems, operating practices, and facilities interventions that make up the flow assurance value chain, with the ability to translate technical risk into practical mitigation plans and client-facing value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading assessment of production fluids, operating conditions, network constraints, solids, wax, scale, hydrates, corrosion, water handling, emulsion behavior and shutdown or restart risks.
  • Defining fit-for-purpose chemical, operational, mechanical, thermal, surveillance, pigging, and production management solutions for mature field applications.
  • Understanding the role, limits, and integration requirements of chemicals, inhibitors, monitoring tools, pigging programs, heating or insulation options, separation or water-handling changes, and operational procedures.
  • Applying experience from implemented mitigation programs, including start-up behavior, steady-state operations, shutdown and restart performance, chemical effectiveness monitoring, production losses avoided, and lessons learned from field operations.
  • Establishing pressure, temperature, rate, water cut, composition, turndown, restart, and network operating limits required to sustain reliable production.
  • Quantifying production risk, deferment exposure, mitigation cost drivers, monitoring needs, and value impact for integrated field management proposals.
  • Challenging flow assurance assumptions, guide junior specialists, and ensure proposal inputs are practical, bankable, and aligned with operating constraints.

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc in Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 12–15+ years experience in flow assurance, production chemistry, production operations, facilities support, or integrated production optimization.
  • Direct experience on projects that progressed from concept design and pre-FEED/FEED into execution, commissioning or operational implementation, and performance monitoring.
  • Deep expertise in solids, wax, scale, hydrates, corrosion, multiphase flow behavior, network constraints, and flow assurance mitigation strategies.
  • Working knowledge of chemicals, inhibitors, monitoring systems, operating procedures, pigging programs, heating or insulation options, and facilities interventions used across the flow assurance value chain.
  • Proven ability to translate flow assurance risks into bankable mitigation plans, operating envelopes, and client-facing proposal inputs.
