Floor Technician Manager

Position Summary

The Floor Technician Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and growing the company’s floor care operations. This position ensures that all floor care services are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining customer satisfaction, developing employees, and driving additional revenue through floor care services.

The Floor Technician Manager will lead floor technicians, coordinate projects, manage equipment and supplies, conduct quality inspections, and work closely with operations management to support the company’s growth and overall vision.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership & Employee Development
  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain qualified floor technicians.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Establish accountability, professionalism, and a positive team culture.
  • Identify and develop future floor care team leaders and supervisors.
  • Ensure technicians follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  1. Scheduling & Operations
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly floor care projects.
  • Schedule technicians based on customer needs, project size, and deadlines.
  • Manage staffing, attendance, and job assignments.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with operations managers to minimize disruptions to existing cleaning operations.
  • Provide support for emergency floor care requests and special projects.
  1. Quality Control & Customer Satisfaction
  • Conduct routine job site inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ensure floor care projects meet customer expectations and company specifications.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve service issues promptly.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers and operations managers.
  • Recommend improvements to service delivery, procedures, and quality standards.
  1. Floor Care Expertise & Equipment Management
  • Oversee floor stripping, waxing, refinishing, buffing, scrubbing, carpet extraction, and other specialty floor care services.
  • Ensure technicians are properly trained in floor care techniques, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor floor machines, auto scrubbers, extractors, buffers, and other equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacement.
  • Monitor chemical and supply inventory to control costs and reduce waste.
  • Ensure all equipment and chemicals are used, stored, and handled safely.
  1. Business Development & Revenue Growth
  • Work with operations managers to identify additional floor care opportunities within existing customer accounts.
  • Assist with estimating, bidding, and pricing floor care projects.
  • Conduct customer site visits to identify floor maintenance needs.
  • Develop new floor care business opportunities and support customer retention.
  • Track project profitability, labor costs, and revenue.
  • Promote specialty services such as carpet cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, floor restoration, and scheduled floor maintenance programs.
  1. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Monitor labor hours, supply expenses, and project budgets.
  • Review job costing and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Prepare project schedules, work orders, inspection reports, and performance updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee training, equipment, and completed projects.
  • Report operational results, challenges, and growth opportunities to the Vice President of Operations.
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and proper personal protective equipment usage.
  • Ensure employees are trained in chemical handling, equipment operation, and hazard prevention.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and company procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections and correct unsafe work practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in commercial janitorial services or professional floor care.
  • Experience leading, supervising, or coordinating employees.
  • Knowledge of floor stripping, waxing, refinishing, carpet cleaning, and specialty floor care.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot professional floor care equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of labor budgets, job costing, and profitability.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer locations.
