Job Description

Maryland Masonic Homes (MMH), a premier continuing care retirement community located in northern Baltimore County has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time (40 hours per week) Floor Technician! 7:00am - 3:30pm, every other weekend required.

Under general direction, the floor tech is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all carpeted and hard surfaces in the facility and performs preventative maintenance on special floor equipment. This role will also assist with general cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned and may fill in as EVS Aide or EVS Porter as necessary.

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities

  • The responsibility of Floor Tech is to provide efficient and effective floor care throughout the facility.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of floors and carpets by vacuuming, mopping, and scrubbing to remove stains and keep the facility clean and sanitized.
  • Shampoo all carpeted areas as needed. Buff all tile floors weekly to maintain the appearance.
  • Strip and wax tile floors, shampoo carpet, and spot clean carpet as needed.
  • Sweep, mop, empty trash, and spot clean glass periodically.
  • Must be able to follow the daily tasks checklist and complete daily tasks as assigned.
  • Utilize the proper equipment on assigned/unassigned tasks i. e. wet floor signs, gloves, chemicals etc.
  • Identify and report any malfunctions of equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on special floor equipment.
  • Assist other EVS team members when necessary or as assigned.
  • Adhere to all OSHA regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in in-service training, follow the Fire Plan, and abide by the Patient’s Bill of Rights and the Maryland Masonic Homes’ policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-years’ experience in floor care in a commercial or long-term cleaning setting is required.
  • Ability to learn, operate and maintain all equipment necessary to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and Holidays as scheduled.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Prior experience in Long Term Care preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly during the shift.
  • Ability to carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull utility carts weighing over 50lbs.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop or stand continuously during the shift.
  • Ability to crouch, kneel squat and climb stairs frequently.
  • Ability to use both hands for continuous grasp and work above shoulders frequently.
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance.
  • Ability to inspect work upon completion and identify areas that need cleaning.
  • Slip Resistant Shoes are required.
  • Wear PPE as required by MMH infection control standards.
  • Potential exposure to cleaning chemicals and fumes and other hazardous materials
  • Potential exposure to biological hazards including infectious diseases and body fluids.
  • May be exposed to extreme heat or cold during the shift.
