With nationwide coverage and skilled local teams, we deliver a reliable end-to-end service that ensures homes and public spaces are safe, sustainable, and well-maintained.

Driven by ambitious growth plans, we continue to expand our capabilities and adapt to the evolving needs of our clients. Our reputation is built on consistent service delivery, trusted partnerships, and a commitment to doing things the right way. As we grow, so do the opportunities - for our people, our clients, and the communities we support.

Cardo Group is becoming one of the UK’s most forward-thinking maintenance and retrofit providers. Do you want to be part of something great?

We are recruiting Floor Layers to work in our Voids Team based in the Swindon area.

As a Floor Layer you will be responsible for laying and maintaining floor coverings in residential properties. This role is essential to the upkeep of social housing, ensuring that the properties remain in a safe, clean, and livable condition. The successful candidate will have a range of skills, including the ability to work with various floor materials such as carpet, vinyl, laminate, and tiling

Responsibilities:

  • Lay and install various types of flooring materials, including carpet, vinyl, tiles, linoleum, and laminate, according to project requirements
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and applying adhesives or underlays
  • Ensure all flooring is installed securely and neatly, with attention to detail
  • Carry out repairs to existing flooring, including patching, re-sealing, or replacing damaged sections
  • Conduct periodic inspections of floors in social housing units to identify and address potential issues, including wear and tear
  • Respond to maintenance requests for flooring-related issues and complete repairs within agreed timeframes
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations while working on site, ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and compliant manner
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries
  • Ensure the working area is clean and free from hazards, both during and after the installation/repair process
  • Work alongside other tradespeople (e.g., plumbers, electricians, painters) as part of larger refurbishment or maintenance projects within social housing.
  • Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed, such as general repairs or property upgrades, when not directly working on flooring.
  • Interact with tenants in a professional and respectful manner, ensuring minimal disruption during flooring installations or repairs

You Will Need:

  • Proven experience as a floor layer, ideally within the social housing or residential property sector
  • A multi-skilled background with experience in a range of flooring types (carpet, vinyl, tile, laminate, etc.)
  • Knowledge of floor preparation, adhesives, levelling compounds, and underlays
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to work safely and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) in floor laying or a related trade
  • Experience working in social housing or with public-sector clients

We Will Provide:

  • Excellent development and progression opportunities
  • 23 days holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Range of Salary Sacrifice Schemes [holiday purchase, EV schemes, AVC Pension contributions]
  • Company Van + fuel card
  • Tool voucher – annual allowance to purchase tools
  • Wellbeing Resources and Counselling services
  • Retail & Lifestyle Discount Platform
  • Enhanced Family Leave Provisions
  • Recognition initiatives and awards

Please note all our roles are subject to Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.
