Floating Bank Teller | Orange County Branches

About This Role

As a Floating Bank Teller, you will support multiple First Bank retail banking locations throughout Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Westminster, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach. As one of the first points of contact for our customers, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and shaping the overall banking experience.

In this role, you will perform a variety of teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and account servicing while maintaining cash handling accuracy and compliance with bank procedures.

You will build customer relationships, identify banking opportunities, and refer customers to appropriate products, services, and business partners. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in different branch environments and helping customers achieve their financial goals.

In This Role You Will

Customer Service & Client Experience

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and create positive experiences that strengthen customer relationships and loyalty.
  • Engage customers in meaningful conversations to better understand their financial needs and goals.
  • Educate customers on available banking products, services, digital banking tools, and self-service options.
  • Support customers in managing their financial well-being through personalized service and guidance.
  • Assist customers with routine banking transactions and account-related inquiries.

Teller Transactions & Cash Handling

  • Process a variety of teller transactions, including:
  • Accurately balance and maintain your cash drawer in accordance with bank procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of cash handling accuracy and transaction quality.
  • Ensure all transactions are completed efficiently while safeguarding customer information.

Sales Referrals & Relationship Building

  • Identify opportunities to deepen customer relationships through effective needs-based conversations.
  • Make quality referrals to branch staff and business partners for additional banking products and services.
  • Promote solutions that help customers meet their financial needs while increasing share of wallet.
  • Support branch growth initiatives through referral generation and relationship development.

Lobby Engagement & Digital Banking

  • Proactively engage customers in the branch lobby.
  • Introduce customers to online banking, mobile banking, and other digital tools and resources.
  • Educate customers on convenient alternatives for conducting routine banking transactions.
  • Help customers confidently utilize technology to manage their accounts and financial activities.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, operational controls, and security requirements.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment when handling customer transactions and operational issues.
  • Identify and help prevent fraudulent activity through adherence to fraud prevention procedures.
  • Complete branch operational, balancing, and maintenance activities accurately and timely.
  • Support daily retail banking and branch banking operations as needed.

Flexibility & Teamwork

  • Travel between assigned branch locations to provide staffing support.
  • Quickly adapt to different branch teams, customer bases, and operational environments.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent service and operational effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies and Skills

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • One year of experience in retail banking, financial services, cash handling, teller operations, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Bank Teller, Teller, Universal Banker, Relationship Banker, Customer Service Representative, or similar financial services role strongly preferred.
  • Prior banking experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to process transactions and customer information with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate and support customer adoption of online banking, mobile banking, and other digital banking services.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues.

Fraud Prevention & Critical Thinking

  • Ability to recognize unusual activity and follow established fraud prevention procedures.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills when addressing customer and operational issues.

Managing Multiple Priorities

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and balance competing responsibilities in a dynamic branch environment.

Problem Solving

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve customer service, operational, and transaction-related issues.

Compensation Disclosure

The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and other internal business and organizational factors. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for remote positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $20.75 - $25.50 per hour.
