Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to all UCLA Health Ambulatory Cancer Care clinics. The incumbent performs journey-level general painting, a variety of semi-skilled preventative and general maintenance tasks, not requiring a licensed technician, installation, removal, diagnosis, repair, alterations, and preventive maintenanceof Cancer Care clinics and Cancer Care pharmacy mixing rooms Required skills include knowledge of painting, mechanical, carpentry, doors and windows, building hardware appliances, floor and ceiling systems, roofing, and basic construction methods. Independently analyze problems to determine and obtain the necessary information, organize and analyze the information, form conclusions, and present conclusions/ proposals verbally or in writing as requested. Complete proper repairs using correct materials, displaying a high level of workmanship while following safe work practices. Experience in the use of painting, building and maintenance, parts and materials, and standard hand and power tools is required. The position is physically demanding, and the necessity to work varying and sometimes extended hours under difficult conditions are expected.

Salary: $44.65/hr


Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to properly carry out job duties
  • Knowledge of safety standards and safe working practices
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as necessary

  • Available to work overtime including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, on a regular basis
  • Ability to independently perform a variety of semi-skilled painting, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to establish & maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, clients, supervisors, managers, vendors, outside agencies; maintain a positive & respectful attitude; use oral communication skills to obtain/convey clear, concise & grammatically correct information
  • Ability to read project specifications, blue prints, and technical trade related manuals and write standard English phrases to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend
  • Ability to work independently, follows through on assignments, and adapts priorities as workload or deadlines shift
  • Ability to perform preventative and planned maintenance and applies basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and simple formulas like area calculations
  • Ability to reads and understands policies and procedures and uses standard office equipment and basic software with ease
  • Working knowledge of painting procedures
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, climb, stoop, push, pull, and crouch for extended periods. Able to repeatedly raise or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist high and rotate upper torso. Ability to lift material and parts, up to 50 pounds
  • You are required to have the ability to travel to multiple work sites within UCLA Health
Preferred:
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in construction or maintenance related field
