Job Description
MTSI is seeking a Flight Test Engineer/Test Director to support aircraft system and subsystems testing. Duty location is Las Vegas but travel to other work locations will be required.
Responsibilities:
· Work with customers to plan, execute, and report on ground and flight test events
· Work with customers to plan and design test events to obtain necessary data to address flight test objectives
· Develop technically adequate test objectives, data requirements, data collection methodologies and go/no-go criteria to inform strategic platform requirements and modeling and simulation needs
· Perform reviews of aircraft specification requirements to ensure the data management and analysis plan (DMAP) provides proper data collection for real-time and post-mission data processing and evaluation
· Execute safe, secure, effective, and efficient flight test events
· Collaborate with data analysts to oversee the data analysis process and build actionable executive-level test reports.
- Make quick decisions during test missions, direct real-time aircraft corrections, and coordinate rapidly with test team members to adjust the mission flow as necessary to meet mission data collection goals
- Conduct thorough mission debriefs to ensure all relevant mission events are understood and to identify lessons learned to be applied to future missions
- Assist in data analysis and review as required to facilitate correct interpretation of the mission data.
- Support the creation of test engineering documentation: Test plans, Safety Packages, Data Analysis Management Plans, Technical Review Board Briefs, Safety Review Board Briefs, Test Readiness Briefs, Test Cards, and Test Reports
- Capable and willing to work in a remote environment with a highly motivated team.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor and/or Master of Science (Aeronautical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Math, Computer Science or Physics)
Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of 10+ years of flight test experience
- Have a "Team" mentality towards providing integrated engineering support for design reviews, test planning working groups, test card preparation, disciplined test execution, and collaborate/author on post-flight reports
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently and have above average communication and writing skills
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and leadership skills, attention to detail
- Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and needs.
- Positive attitude, self-starter and an ability to work with little supervision
Desired Experience/Skills/Credentials:
- USAF / Navy Test Pilot School Graduate (Pilot, NAV, or Engineer)
- Mission Control Room experience directing ground / flight test events while monitoring performance parameters
- Experience with Electronic Warfare testing
- Experience in coordinating and executing tests on various government open air test ranges
- Experience with "modeling houses" (e.g., MIT/LL, JHU/APL, GTRI, EZJA, etc) to reconcile differences between predicted and actual system performance
- Experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, etc)
Security Clearance Requirements:
Current TS/SCI clearance required
Travel Requirements:
Up to 10% travel may be required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
