Job Purpose

Monitor, process, and analyse flight data from aircraft systems within Vueling's operations according to regulatory standards and internal procedures to ensure flight safety, operational efficiency, and compliance

Main Accountabilities

  • Ensure continuous and reliable data transmission by maintaining a high rate of data reception (currently 99%), ensuring seamless data flow and system reliability.

  • Convert binary data into a readable format for the flight data analysis system, enabling accurate and efficient data interpretation and analysis.

  • Identify potential safety hazards, operational trends, and critical events that may require immediate attention or further investigation, ensuring proactive measures are in place to prevent incidents and ensure flight safety.

  • Work with Maintenance, IT, and Data departments to diagnose and fix issues with aircraft data systems and improve data analysis tools, ensuring efficient and accurate data processing capabilities.

  • Conduct comprehensive studies and produce reports aimed at improving flight safety, operational efficiency, and aircraft utilisation, while providing actionable feedback and recommendations to relevant departments.

  • Share analysis findings and recommend training or procedural adjustments to mitigate risks, ensure compliance with operational standards, and promote continuous improvement and a culture of safety.

  • Develop and track metrics to monitor safety performance, ensuring continuous adherence to safety standards and informed decision-making.

  • Enhance technical skills and keep abreast of the latest industry standards, participating in global projects

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor the receipt of flight data from aircraft systems.

  • Process raw flight data into an analysable format.

  • Analyse flight data for trends indicating safety risks.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to resolve data transmission issues.

  • Review and validate significant flight events for compliance and safety.

  • Provide data-driven insights to enhance operational safety and efficiency.

  • Liaise with flight operations and training departments regarding identified trends.

  • Create and maintain Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs)

  • Generate and distribute detailed flight data analysis reports.

  • Engage in continuous professional development and training.

  • Collaborate on international data-sharing initiatives.

  • Support the development and maintenance of analytical tools and systems.

Main Relationships

  • Flight Operations: To share operational data trends and support pilot compliance with safety protocols.

  • Training Department: To address identified trends through additional crew training and procedural updates.

  • Maintenance Department: To ensure aircraft system integrity and resolve data transmission or technical issues.

  • IT, Data, and External Analysis Providers: To develop, maintain, and optimise data processing systems, analytical tools, and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Operations Planning: To support operational planning, fuel consumption analysis, and efficiency improvements through detailed data insights.

  • Legal and Insurance Departments: To provide flight data supporting legal defence, insurance claims, and company interests.

  • Safety and Security: To collaborate on identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks.

  • Aircraft and Engine Manufacturers (e.g., Airbus): To support technical issue resolution and performance improvement initiatives through data sharing.

  • Regulatory and Investigation Authorities (e.g., EASA, NTSB, BEA): To support safety initiatives and provide data for incident and accident investigations.

  • International Committees (e.g., IATA FDX): To participate in global data-sharing projects aimed at improving aviation safety and industry standards.

Education

Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Proficiency in flight data monitoring and analysis systems.

Understanding of aviation safety regulations and standards.

Knowledge of data processing and analysis tools like Python, SQL, VBA.

Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau, Excel or Power BI.

Experience

At least 2 years in roles related to data analysis, aviation safety, or related fields.

Experience in airline operations is advantageous.

Experience in analysing data and identifying safety trends.

Proven track record of collaborating with maintenance and flight operations departments is advantageous.

Experience in creating and maintaining Performance Indicators, (SPIs) is a plus.

Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
