Forget what you thought you knew about the NRMA – take a look on the inside and you’ll discover that life with us is more than just a job – it’s your chance to make a difference together.

What You’ll Do

As a Fleet Workshop General Hand, you’ll be a key player in the day-to-day functionality of NRMA’s Wetherill Park depot, supporting both fleet and Patrol store operations. Based on your experience and skills, your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting day-to-day fleet operations and Patrol store operations at the Wetherill Park depot.
  • Carrying out general and emergency repairs to vehicles and fit-outs using provided tools and equipment, with guidance where required.
  • Undertaking service body repairs, repurposing and minor upgrades in line with organisational requirements for NRMA Patrol Vehicles and Tow Trucks.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Patrol vehicles for new recruits.
  • Preparing Patrol and pool vehicles, including cleaning (wash and vacuum).
  • Providing general store support, including picking and handling goods on behalf of the Store Administrator.
  • Maintaining the workshop and machine store in a clean, safe and professional condition, and assisting with general presentation of the Fleet site.
  • Undertaking vehicle movements within the Sydney Metro area.

This role offers:

  • Variable hours, Monday to Friday, with your choice of either 7:00am–3:00pm or 8:00am–4:00pm, based at Wetherill Park.
  • The opportunity to grow your skills and receive guidance within a controlled and supportive workshop environment, provided you bring the right attitude and motivation to learn.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be someone with a strong mechanical interest, a safety mindset and a willingness to pitch in as part of a small, hands-on team. You will have:

  • Current valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in fixing vehicle and equipment faults.
  • Experience using a range of tools and equipment associated with electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written and verbal instructions.
  • A professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and contracted service providers.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering outcomes in alignment with NRMA’s Company Values and Culture Playbook.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Trade qualification as an Automotive Mechanic.
  • Forklift Licence.

Candidates with a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn will be highly regarded, even if they are still developing their technical experience.

Having over 3.2 million Members, we’re Australia's largest member-owned organisation, and have grown into one of the country's largest tourism, leisure, and travel businesses, with investments in accommodation, car hire, ferries, experiences and more. We’ve done this by putting our people, Members and customers at the centre of everything we do to deliver great experiences – something that has always set us apart.

From our earliest Patrols, we’ve been passionate about helping people on the road, but we now also help millions on our waterways, on their holidays, and on all of their journeys. Tales of our legendary service embody the sense of mateship and levels of care that the people of our nations have become known for the world over.

As a workplace, we foster a culture of innovation, growth and wellbeing – one that respects and celebrates diversity in all its forms, creating an environment where all people can feel they truly belong and thrive.
