Key Responsibilities



The Fleet Traveling Hotel General Manager is a critical shipboard leadership role responsible for supporting, developing, and elevating the performance of Hotel General Managers and Associate Hotel General Managers across the fleet. This role ensures consistent delivery of an exceptional guest experience aligned with Princess MedallionClass technology, brand standards, corporate culture, and our shared purpose.

Guest Service & Experience Ownership

  • Monitor and evaluate Net Promoter Score performance across ships and provide strategic guidance to hotel leadership teams to elevate guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure shipboard teams fully utilize Princess MedallionClass products, services, and applications.
  • Mentor and assess hotel leadership teams, strengthening accountability, consistency in service delivery, and application of the Service Excellence philosophy.
  • Promote visible, engaged leadership across shipboard operations, encouraging officer involvement at all levels.
  • Maintain a high onboard presence—actively interacting with guests and teammates to understand current sentiment and quickly address issues impacting the guest experience.
  • Collaborate with shipboard and shoreside leaders to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Review guest service trends and post-cruise complaints to identify and address opportunity areas with hotel leadership.

Product Delivery & Operational Efficiency

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of product and service delivery, as well as revenue performance, particularly on under‑performing vessels.
  • Evaluate the performance of Hotel General Managers and Associate Hotel General Managers against their role expectations, offering constructive feedback and development recommendations.
  • Temporarily assume the duties of a Hotel General Manager when required.
  • Support the development of consistent operational processes for hotel leadership roles.
  • Lead daily meetings with the Hotel General Manager, Associate Hotel General Manager, and Food and Beverage Director during ship visits to address findings and action plans.
  • Create and maintain operational checklists, ensuring alignment with brand standards and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Review onboard programs and activities to optimize guest experience and revenue opportunities.
  • Review hotel planning related to itinerary changes and maintenance periods to ensure readiness and effective preparation.

Financial & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed ship-visit reports, insights, and recommendations to Director(s) of Hotel Operations.
  • Conduct end‑of‑visit debriefs with the Hotel General Manager outlining strengths, improvement areas, and follow‑up actions.
  • Review revenue and inventory performance before each visit and collaborate with the hotel leadership team to identify opportunities for improvement.

Team Development & Princess Purpose

  • Evaluate and strengthen shipboard culture, ensuring a harassment‑free environment and promoting inclusion, diversity, and alignment with the Princess Purpose, Culture Essentials, and Core Values.
  • Assess and develop the managerial skills of hotel executives (three stripes and above).
  • Train and coach newly hired or newly promoted Hotel General Managers and Associate Hotel General Managers to thrive in their roles.
  • Support hotel teams in delivering personalization through MedallionClass technology.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program for Hotel General Managers.
  • Consistently review engagement metrics and coach hotel leaders to foster high-performing, engaged teams.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • The Traveling HGM will be an experienced Hotel leader in the cruise industry with proven experience in the leadership role.
  • They will need to have shown excellent skills in training/managing Hotel leaders holding executive level positions onboard and able to hold them accountable for their performance and drive/guide them accordingly to an improved performance.
  • Ability to manage international staff at all levels positively and productively by motivating, developing, and managing employees as they work.
  • Ability to coach and counsel to improve performance, administering the disciplinary process effectively
  • Full comprehension of HACCP procedures for sanitation and cleanliness
