Partner with Business Units to ensure that all light duty, heavy duty and specialty vehicles and related equipment meet required standards and business needs. Oversee the manufacturers production processes to assure vehicles and equipment meets the applicable specifications. Make recommendations to improve the processes associated with the design, specifications and quotes of vehicles and related equipment. This position will primarily be supporting the Transmission business unit, starting with light duty and specialty 9x equipment (trailers, UTVs, etc.) and eventually learning how to spec and quote medium and heavy duty.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, specify and quote the requirements for light duty (vehicle classes 12-59), and specialty “9x” equipment (vehicle classes 91-99) and related components in accordance with documented compliance requirements of Supply Chain and Fleet Services. Work toward design, spec and quote work for medium and heavy duty vehicles (vehicle classes 60-89)
  • Assist in the development of the annual bid package preparation and the evaluation of bid quotations.
  • Perform pre-paint on site vehicle/equipment inspections according to company specifications and to ensure vendor compliance.
  • Conduct pre-manufacturing/blueprint review meetings with vendors and/or customers to assure compliance and needs.
  • Partner with the end user groups and standardization committees (system and regional) in the designing of equipment and vehicles to support end user requirements.
  • Maintain electronic files that contain blueprints, schematics, catalogs, quotations, and specifications - to include yearly updates of electronic version of equipment catalog.
  • Ensure that all equipment specified, quoted and purchased are in compliance with all Federal, State, Local, OSHA, ANSI, and company standards.
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency in identifying, resolving and initiating solutions to inaccuracies with new Fleet equipment.
  • Develop and recommend annual vehicle allocation list with options and accessories consistent with established policies.
  • Lead and/or facilitate special projects or other specialized activity involving AEP’s Fleet, business unit partners or manufacturers.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years’ experience in the specification of vehicles/equipment.

OR

  • Associates degree in a technical field with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the specification of vehicles/equipment

OR

  • High school diploma / GED with 9 years of experience in the acquisition and specification of fleet vehicles/equipment

Other Must Haves:

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Travel required throughout AEP system (10% or less).

  • This is an On-Site role based out of Columbus, OH.

$74,551.00 - $93,188.50
