POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The Fleet Safety Specialist supports and advances Moss’s non-DOT fleet safety program.This position is responsible for administering fleet safety processes, monitoring driver performance, coordinating incident follow-up, delivering safety training and using fleet safety data to identify trends and reduce vehicle-related risk.
The Fleet Safety Specialist partners closely with Operations, Human Resources, Asset Management, Risk Management, Insurance and field leadership to promote a proactive safety culture among employees who operate company vehicles. This role also collaborates with the DOT Safety Specialist and Director of Fleet Safety & DOT Compliance on matters involving DOT-regulated drivers or vehicles.
This positive requires travel of up to 20% to various locations throughout the Unites States to conduct fleet safety training, support field audits and assist with safety initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate the administration of the company's non-DOT fleet safety program in partnership with the Director of Fleet Safety & DOT Compliance
Assist with implementation and maintenance of fleet safety policies, procedures, and driver safety initiatives
Coordinate company vehicle accident reporting, documentation, and follow-up activities
Assist with vehicle accident investigations by gathering documentation, interviewing drivers, and maintaining investigation files
Monitor telematics, dash camera events, and driver performance reports to identify unsafe driving behaviors and communicate findings to field leadership
Coordinate driver coaching assignments and monitor completion of corrective actions following vehicle incidents or unsafe driving events
Monitor Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reports for non-regulated drivers and communicate driver eligibility concerns to management
Maintain fleet safety records, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with onboarding of new drivers by coordinating required fleet safety training and policy acknowledgments
Coordinate recurring fleet safety communications, training assignments, and awareness campaigns
Compile fleet safety metrics and prepare routine reports identifying trends in vehicle crashes, driver behaviors, and other fleet safety performance indicators
Assist with field fleet safety audits and follow up on identified corrective actions
Coordinate with Operations, Human Resources, Asset Management, Risk Management, and Insurance representatives regarding fleet safety matters
Support administration of fleet safety technology platforms including Geotab, dash camera systems, and other fleet safety applications
Maintain knowledge of fleet safety best practices and company policies to provide day-to-day support to field operations
Collaborate with Human Resources, Asset Management, and Supervisors to ensure compliance with MVR standards and mandated training
Conduct thorough assessments to identify gaps in the fleet safety process and devise proactive solutions
Deliver engaging and effective fleet safety training sessions to employees at various locations, to ensure compliance with Moss and relevant regulatory standards
Utilize advanced analytics to identify and analyze trends and patterns in fleet safety data and make data-driven recommendations to improve fleet safety performance
Communicate regularly with both field management and senior management to provide guidance and updates
Demonstrates depth of knowledge & competency with applicable fleet safety regulations and industry standards
Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in fleet safety compliance and incorporate them into fleet safety program strategies and initiatives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite programs, and familiarity with fleet safety analytics such as Geotab, SharePoint, Intelex, In-Cab Technologies
Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Minimum of 5 years of fleet safety, transportation safety, risk management, or EHS experience
Strong knowledge of non-DOT fleet safety principles, vehicle incident prevention, driver behavior management and fleet risk mitigation
Ability to analyze telematics, dash camera, accident, MVR and other fleet safety data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective training and communicate with employees at all organizational levels
Strong organizational, documentation and follow-up skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Familiarity with fleet safety and analytics systems such as Geotab, SharePoint, Dash camera and Intelex preferred
Ability to build collaborative relationships with field teams, leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Experience conducting vehicle accident investigations
Knowledge of fleet safety best practices, insurance claims, and driver behavior management
BS in Safety Management, Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or similar preferred
Ability to travel, up to 20% of the time to various locations throughout the United States to deliver training programs and to conduct file audits
