Your future role

The purpose of this role is to create and manage maintenance and planning schedules for the fleet of CL378s across London Overground based at New Cross Gate. The Planning Manager ensures all stakeholders have visibility of Alstom’s maintenance requirements, including daily schedules for exams, defects, modifications, and more, to keep the fleet within maintenance tolerances.

The role monitors fleet condition, plans resources and materials to improve depot efficiencies, and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to deliver maintenance plans on time, within budget, and to quality standards. It also ensures robust planning processes, proactive fleet condition monitoring, effective workload management for outstations, and coordination with customers and Alstom Services

We’ll look to you for:

  • Ensure an effective maintenance plan is developed and managed on a day-to-day basis.
  • To contribute to ensure the performance of the running railway is maintained and improved continually.
  • To support the Fleet Operations manager with all aspects of the fleet planning and network rail maintenance plan.
  • To implement, set and monitor the strategy for controlling planned maintenance including outstanding defects, reliability and safety checks. Including forecast of short, medium and long term availability.
  • To set in place means of measuring, controlling and prioritising casualty defects to enable efficient usage of technician and train maintainer resource

  • Computer Literate – Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Capability to use bespoke software tools to support reliability growth.
  • Ideally a general engineering background or relevant experience.
  • Previous Experience of planning preferably in a maintenance environment
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
