Job Description

As the Fleet Office Runner you will be responsible for helping support the Fleet Management Team, Fishermen, and Tendermen. This requires strong communication and organizational skills to provide prompt attention to requests for parts, groceries, gear, and freight. As part of the Fleet team, you will work with Management to maintain an accurate inventory of essential supplies. You will coordinate efforts and uphold relations with outside vendors, Fishermen, Tendermen, and the Bristol Bay Community. In this role as the Fleet Office Runner, you should expect to work long hours in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are crucial to success in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Communicate professionally with Fleet Management Team, Tenders, and Fishermen, both verbally and in writing.
  • Generate detailed work orders for fisherman and tender requests, execute those orders by collaborating with yard crews and vendors, and meticulously maintain work order records.
  • Safely coordinate freight and parts transfers across the dock, maintaining detailed logs of all movement and location of items.
  • Manage physical inventory of Fishermen, Tender, and Fleet supplies and maintain records, both electronic and hard-copy formats.
  • Oversee the fisherman mail program, including the management of incoming and outgoing mail and freight.
  • Maintain Fleet Office facilities including pre-season setup, post-season teardown, and ensuring general cleanliness.
  • Represent Silver Bay Seafoods professionally and maintain positive relationships within the Bristol Bay community.
  • Other duties to help support teams and entire organization.

  • Work Order Management: Experience in creating, processing, and tracking work orders, ensuring timely completion and accurate record-keeping.
  • Computer Proficiency: Competent in using email, spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel), and word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word).
  • Safety Consciousness Adherence to safety protocols and procedures, particularly in handling and transporting materials.

  • Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals, including fishermen, tendermen, vendors, and management.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the Fleet Management Team and other personnel to achieve shared goals.

  • Time Management & Prioritization: Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required; or three to six months of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Forklift certification or experience is a plus


Physical Demands
While performing the essential function and job duties associated with the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, handle, feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
