Additional Compensation Details:

  • $34.00-$42.00 hourly Dependent on Experience and Location of Role
  • Work schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Potential 90-day performance-based raise
  • Yearly review with possibility of increase based on performance and tenure

Job Description

Fleet Mechanic-Trailer Focus

We are seeking a Fleet Mechanic with a well-rounded set of mechanical skills to support our fleet. The primary focus will be trailer maintenance and repair, with additional work on tractors, box trucks, liftgates, refrigeration units, and yard equipment as needed. Welding experience is required. A CDL is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, primarily on trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair trailer brakes, ABS systems, air systems, suspension, wheel ends, lighting, and electrical systems.
  • Repair trailer doors, floors, roofs, body components, and related hardware.
  • Perform welding and fabrication for equipment repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair liftgates and hydraulic systems.
  • Support maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and other fleet equipment.
  • Use diagnostic software, scan tools, and service information to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and labor time on work orders.
  • Follow safe work practices and communicate repair needs that affect equipment safety or downtime.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Five or more years of relevant heavy-duty fleet maintenance experience, with strong trailer repair skills.
  • Demonstrated welding ability.
  • A broad mechanical background, including electrical troubleshooting, air brakes, suspension, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to diagnose problems independently and complete dependable repairs.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and interpreting service information.
  • Professional mechanic’s tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • CDL; Class A preferred.
  • Refrigerated trailer and refrigeration unit maintenance experience.
  • Diesel engine, transmission, and air-conditioning diagnostic experience.
  • Cummins, Detroit, or other relevant manufacturer training or certifications.
