Inside the Role
The Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) Specialty Use Vehicle (SUV) Group is responsible for the transport, licensing, presentation, and operational support of DTNA products. The SUV group works cross functionally, providing support to all divisions and groups within DTNA and Daimler AG. This position is responsible for the ownership of the functional vehicle fleet, office and operational support for DTNA vehicles and drivers, and the enforcement of DTNA DOT compliance policies related to the operation, driving, and reporting of corporate owned commercial vehicles, including tractors, trucks, passenger vehicles, and trailers. The SUV group operates within the Product Validation Engineering (PVE) Vehicle Operations Department, which is responsible for component and system level validation to ensure DTNA products are industry leaders in reliability, while also supporting lowest total cost of ownership objectives for DTNA customers.

Position offers a starting salary range of $78,000 to $100,000 USD

What You Drive at DTNA:
- Provide functional vehicle ownership of commercial vehicles, trailers, and pool cars, key control, location tracking, transport requests, violations, and any non‑PVE vehicle usage requests.
- Coordinate and monitor vehicle maintenance, repairs, recalls, and service campaigns with Shop Supervisors to ensure operational readiness and compliance closure.
- Analyze and track vehicle utilization, service scheduling, and location using fleet management systems.
- Oversee pool vehicle operations, including parking assignments, scheduling, condition assessments, maintenance coordination, and violation tracking.
- Provide DOT compliance oversight and enforcement support across DTNA, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and corrective action processes.
- Lead and facilitate Commercial Vehicle Advisory Board meetings, including agenda development, issue analysis, stakeholder coordination, and follow‑up execution.
- Support Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver training programs for CDL drivers operating Specialty Use Vehicles, including compliance alignment and operational readiness.
- Manage and oversee vehicle registration activities for apportioned, commercial, trailer, and pool vehicles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a primary liaison between business units to ensure timely annual renewals of apportioned vehicles and resolution of compliance issues.
- Independently support and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual DOT reporting requirements, including OSCAR, IRP, EPA, UCR, and FHVUT, ensuring data accuracy and audit readiness.
- Prepare and submit applicable vehicle tax filings to the Tax Department and complete required EPA reporting.
- Actively participate in ODOT Weight Mile tax audits, including documentation preparation, issue resolution, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee fuel card administration, including ordering, assignment, monitoring, usage review, and cancellation.
- Administer and support Electronic Logging Device (ELD) programs, including assignment, ordering, compliance monitoring, training coordination, and issue resolution.
- Backup support for Driver Evaluation Requests and Reports, identifying trends and recommending follow‑up actions as appropriate.
- Lead or support accident investigations, including coordination of root‑cause review, damage claim submission, and recovery for vendor‑damaged vehicles.
- Review, code, and validate BancPay invoices related to PVE/SUV operations to ensure financial accuracy and correct cost allocation.
- Maintain and continuously improve SharePoint sites, including the master inventory and compliance records for all corporate‑owned Specialty Use Vehicles.
- Serve as a cross‑functional liaison supporting vehicle manufacturing, procurement, utilization, and disposal activities.
- Lead or coordinate vehicle turn‑ins and reassignments, including inspections, repair assessments, recall/campaign completion, destruction, or donation of decommissioned assets.
- Coordinate with the DTNA Customs Department to obtain and validate required documentation for Canadian border crossings of not‑for‑hire vehicles.
- Provide backup and advanced support for the SUV Operations Analyst I role, serving as a subject‑matter resource when needed.
- Travel periodically to support vehicle events, audits, testing activities, and operational needs.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- High school diploma (or equivalent) with three (3) or more years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with one (1) or more years of relevant experience, required.
- Highly detail‑oriented, analytical thinker with the demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and document complex issues related to parts, designs, and operational processes.
- Proven team contributor with a resilient, professional demeanor and consistently high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively across teams, to support DTNA strategic and operational objectives.
- Demonstrated success operating in fast‑paced, dynamic environments, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with cross‑functional teams, leadership, and external vendors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document, analyze, and communicate findings and recommendations.
- Clean driving record with the ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual transmissions.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required, with a minimum of five (5) consecutive years of clean driving history, demonstrating sustained compliance with driving and safety standards.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Advanced computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and project management software used to support complex operational and compliance activities.
- Strong data analysis capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex information, document trends and findings, and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated working‑to‑advanced knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, DOT compliance requirements, commercial vehicle compliance, and driver safety regulations and best practices.
- High level of technical competency, paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective documentation, problem analysis, and stakeholder communication.
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence outcomes within cross‑functional teams, supporting coordination across multiple business units and disciplines.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and execute work effectively in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
