Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
Port Allen, LA
Schedule: Salaried, Exempt
The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop by leading a team of Technicians and ensuring timely, high-quality repairs and preventative maintenance of company vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for driving safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while maintaining fleet readiness. The Maintenance Supervisor partners closely with the Maintenance Manager and Operations team to support business needs and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and assign daily work to Technicians to ensure maintenance priorities are met efficiently
- Review and monitor work orders for accuracy, timeliness, and quality of repairs
- Support preventative and corrective maintenance programs to improve fleet performance and reduce downtime
- Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant shop environment; promote a strong culture of safety and accountability
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Drivers, and Operations teams to coordinate repairs and minimize service disruptions
- Assist with parts ordering, inventory management, and vendor coordination
- Provide hands-on mechanical support as needed to meet operational deadlines
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage
- Participate in maintenance meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Train, mentor, and coach Technicians to enhance team performance and skill development
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in fleet or equipment maintenance (transportation industry preferred)
- 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
- Experience with maintenance software (e.g., MIR or similar systems) preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday
