We seek a mechanically minded fleet manager to look after our growing fleet of company trucks, tankers, flat-top trucks and ISO containers.

THE ROLE

Our fleet requires management and overall maintenance including:

  • Scheduling and documenting regular servicing
  • checking and acting on driver predelivery safety vehicle checklists
  • Scheduling and documenting preventative maintenance on vehicles
  • Assisting in ensuring vehicles are loaded correctly according to load plans and orders
  • Managing breakdown situations
  • Liaising with current service providers, sourcing alternative suppliers, obtaining quotes, checking work carried out
  • Management of tyres, pumps, electrics and hoses for tankers including sourcing, pricing, scheduling and tagging
  • Mass management and record-keeping
  • Organizing PPE (protective clothing) for drivers
  • Ensuring the fleet has adequate signage
  • Ensuring all trucks and equipment are kept clean
  • Ensure daily checklists are filled in by drivers and actioned where necessary
  • Ensuring all registrations are kept up to date
  • Monitor wear and tear on equipment including in-depth cost analysis per vehicle
  • Move vehicles around the yard as required
  • Pick up and drop off of Vehicles from external service providers
  • Assist is souring and acquiring new vehicles
  • Other aspects of fleet management as required

ABOUT YOU

  • Must have auto mechanic qualification and experience, preferably diesel mechanic experience
  • Microsoft office experience
  • Excellent knowledge of trucks and trailers
  • Positive aptitude, willing to work out of hours if required
  • Knowledge of requirements to run mass management system

We envisage the ideal candidate as either an ex-truck driver/mechanic or someone mechanically minded who has excellent organisational skills and a good aptitude for computers. Exposure to Dangerous Goods is important and higher consideration will be given to those with experience in the chemical industry.

The position is for immediate start with ample safety and procedural training.
