TxDOT's Fleet Operations Division is seeking one (1) Fleet Long-Haul Truck Operator I or II based in Austin, TX. This position supports TxDOT's mission by safely loading, transporting, and unloading construction equipment in the Central Texas Area. Our Haul Truck Operators play a critical role in keeping Texas moving. We support daily operations and respond to emergency and inclement weather events across the state.

Performs work as a long-haul truck operator loading, unloading, and transporting throughout the state of Texas vehicles and heavy equipment such as: a motor grader, large excavator, heavy bulldozer, crane, herbicide truck, heavy asphalt paving machine, self-propelled asphalt distributor, profiling/milling machine, and dump truck. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
No education required
Fleet Long-Haul Truck Operator I - 3 years of experience in transporting and/or operating maintenance and/or construction equipment .
Fleet Long-Haul Truck Operator II - 5 years of experience in transporting and/or operating maintenance and/or construction equipment .
Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent.
Experience securely tying down and transporting construction equipment.
