The Fleet Inventory Analyst serves as a remote member of the Logistics Team serving the entire US, responsible for executing and maintaining all company inventory and instrument management policies. This role combines analytical insight with hands-on inventory control to optimize asset utilization, ensure field readiness, and uphold compliance with company standards.
The Inventory Analyst partners closely with Sales, Logistics, and Operations leadership to align inventory levels with utilization goals, support sales performance, and ensure timely and accurate deployment of surgical instruments and implants.
This position is a P3 level
What will you be doing?
Inventory Management & Control
Manage all territory and/or area inventory assets—including instruments, implants, and loaner kits—to ensure optimal utilization and accuracy.
Maintain precise records of product placements, movements, and usage in accordance with company policies.
Coordinate with distribution centers (Memphis, West Coast, Regional) and field teams to track and evaluate loaner kit utilization and requirements.
Ensure all logistical activities comply with Smith & Nephew’s standard operating procedures and quality standards.
Analytical & Reporting Responsibilities:
Analyze inventory asset levels and usage data to identify efficiencies, improve utilization, and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare and deliver periodic, quarterly, and annual reports covering set deployments, stock withdrawals, freight analysis, and courier usage.
Conduct utilization analysis for instruments and implants to support sales forecasting and deployment planning.
Support territory P&L initiatives by providing insights into freight spend, courier efficiency, and inventory write-offs.
Develop and maintain performance dashboards to track key metrics (inventory turns, E&O, utilization rates).
Sales & Operations Partnership:
Partner with Sales Management and the Sales Force to ensure proper product availability and responsive logistical support.
Provide analytical guidance for inventory planning to support field sales initiatives and territory performance goals.
Collaborate with Logistics leadership to execute rebalancing or redeployment strategies across regions.
Serve as a local point of contact for field logistics support, troubleshooting, and escalation.
Training & Compliance:
Maintain working knowledge of company products, systems, and operating procedures.
Adhere to all applicable FDA Quality System Regulations and GxP standards.
Participate in continued education and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen operational excellence.
What will you need to be successful?
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field.
+5 years of experience in inventory analysis, inventory control, logistics, or supply chain roles (medical device or healthcare preferred).
Fluent in English

Technical Skills & Competencies
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Power BI, Access, or similar analytical tools.
Strong data interpretation and reporting skills.
Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems is a bonus ( SAP, Oracle, Altyrex, Maestro).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Understanding of logistics operations, compliance, and quality systems.
