Based at our Saskatoon plant location, we are searching for a Fleet Dispatch Planner. This role is a key operational position in the company, responsible for scheduling and allocation of resources related to the daily operation of raw material trucks and driver staff at the divisional plants. The position ensures the driving team is being utilized to the best possible deployment and that all operations are safe and customer-focused. The Fleet Dispatch Planner acts as the liaison between the Drivers, Fleet Superintendent and Customer Service Operations Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Driver Management
• Schedule drivers for work shifts to meet the needs of the customer base
• Route all bulk trucks and execute all bulk truck customer service orders to ensure 3rd party carriers are being fulfilled
• Direct the driver workforce daily as required to meet the requirements of the customer base and the plant including sick time, vacation requests, absenteeism or additional scheduled work
• Manage allocation of overtime as necessary to meet daily operational requirements
• Ensure driver’s hours of service are being logged and filed per NSC Code
• Coordinate drivers’ training on trucks and material handling equipment in conjunction with Fleet Superintendent and Health & Safety Coordinator (if applicable)
• Verify drivers are trained on proper use of e-route system, phones and use of scale
• Assist Fleet Superintendent with resolution of performance issues related to WCRL Drivers including complaints from external customers, etc.
Fleet Management
• Schedule trucks for active operations and coordinate removal of trucks during maintenance down-times to meet PM schedules
• Aware of driver pre-trip inspections to be completed and submission of reports to the Truck Shop for action
• Set up fleet equipment GPS and monitor to ensure equipment is functioning properly
• Ensure driver’s vehicle cleanliness (truck wash) and appearances are consistent according to WCRL standards
• Ensure all vehicles have appropriate SRM placarding as required by the CFIA
• Ensure HACCP compliance in regard to fleet vehicles and procedures
• Manage and schedule fleet safeties and PM’S for 3rd party and in house repairs in conjunction with fleet maintenance staff
ERP Order Management
• Manage ERP raw materials orders
• Investigate scale matching issues to ensure orders can move to invoicing
• Manage bulk orders and service for large processing plants
• Prepare paper route back-ups in case of e-route failure or system change
• Create work orders from WCRL drivers along with 3rd party contractors
E-Route System
• Ensure truck phones are set up properly, in working order and charged daily
• Update routes during the day for emergency customer services called in during the day
Additional Responsibilities
• Provide back-up relief of Fleet Superintendent duties during absences
• Identify opportunities for operational and fleet utilization improvements
• Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. Policies
• Work closely with Health & Safety Coordinator to encourage a safety culture where employees do not put themselves or others at risk
• Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5 years of dispatch or logistics experience in trucking environment or similar environment
• Aptitude in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and similar systems
• Truck maintenance knowledge strongly preferred
• Knowledge of JDE Status strongly preferred
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, with strong communication skills
