
The Pipeline FJC Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all Field joint coating activities, spares, personnel and inspection throughout offshore/onshore pipeline construction. The position focusses to ensure pipeline weld coating integrity through proper surface preparation, coating application, curing and inspection and compliance with project specifications, international standards, project procedures. They provide feedback to improve the field joint coating process to ensure high productivity and consistent coating quality during procedure qualification test and pipeline construction. The role ensures coordinating multidisciplinary teams and interface with key stakeholders such as Marine, Quality, field/ production Engineer, PPG Welding lead, Welding supervisor,coating lead, NDT Lead & Equipment Lead achieve project objectives. The FJC supervisor shall ensure coating application process is in compliance with project procedures, optimizes resources, and mitigates risks to deliver pipelines as per MDR safety and quality requirements on schedule and within budget. FJC supervisor is accountable for the FJC station activities during project execution with respect to FJC readiness, PQT coupon requirements, start-up, production KPI, minimize downtime and Lesson learned.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Supervise, implement and monitor FJC coating activities at firing line/ onsite construction stations as per Inspection plans and procedures in alignment with project approved procedures and international standards during offshore/ onshore pipeline construction.
• Liaise with Field/ Production Engineer, Barge Superintendent, QC, Certifying Authority, PPG Coating lead, Welding supervisor, Equipment lead & Welding Lead during pipeline construction to ensure timely clearance for production continuity.
• Responsible for readiness of FJC activities with respect to availability of FJC procedures, procedure qualification test coupons when required, coating consumables and spares for coating equipment, approved FJC coating techs prior to start of production coating as per project schedule.
• Review the planned FJC cycle time and ensure the execution of pipeline FJC as per the cycle time and guide personnel in case of any issues.
• Responsible for participation in kick-off meetings, readiness reviews including lessons learned during project set up, coating procedure qualification test, pipeline installation, ensure close out of project and provide lessons learned during construction.
• Supervise and monitor field joint coating operations including surface preparation, coating consumables handling, setup of coating station, functionality, maintenance and performance of automatic/ semi automatic equipments, manage Coating techs, monitor productivity, Coating consumables and trouble shoot technical issues and ensure compliance to approved procedures.
• Liaise with FJC Lead for coating related operational and technical matters during system set up, production coating, inspection during pipeline construction.
• Manage FJC coating personnel, assign daily tasks, monitor productivity and ensure proper use of equipment and consumables.
• Ensure PQT coupons and PQT carried out during construction as per the frequency including inspection tests as per approved procedures when required by project.
• Maintain accurate records of FJC coating operations, including joints coating completed, equipment details, repair records, down time due to FJC, station timing and support final project documentation including Coating statistics, inspection summaries, and quality records.
• Maintain and submit detailed daily reports of weld joints FJC coated,breakdown of equipments, traceability of coating materials, acceptance rates, defect types, repair statistics and records of all FJC activities, progress, and resource utilization. The daily report shall be shared with PPG team.
• Ensure compliance with MDR HSE requirements and quality assurance procedures throughout all stages of pipeline operations.
• Ensure first line inspection of coating activities by reviewing coating consumable certificates, carry out procedure qualification test, calibration of coating and testing equipments, liase with PPG welding Engineer/ QCI fit up and visual inspections to ensure compliance with project specification/ procedures and coordinate with coating techs for marking repairs on coated joint correctly.
• Responsible for firing line/ onsite FJC activities by ensuring readiness, resolve on start up issues, ensure sufficient FJC calibrated equipment including test instruments, FJC consumables , monitor actual FJC cycle time against planned and provide technical support to resolve day to day issues during pipeline construction.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings, safety & Quality tool box talks with construction and QHSES team.
• Interface with client representatives and third-party inspectors during audits and inspections when required.
• Assess competency of Coating techs, arrange training and mentoring the team to develop skills.
• Coordinates the training and development of the workforce to improve the FJC methodology and good workmanship practices.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Certification in FROSIO, NACE Level II with Level III preferred.
• Minimum 5 -10 years of hands-on experience in pipeline Coating operations preferably on offshore projects with at least 2 years in supervisory role and shall have knowledge on anticorrosion filed coating, internal coating, in-fill coating with different coating systems.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings, FJC procedures and inspection plan documents.
• Experience working on pipelay vessels, lay barges, or similar offshore assets with valid BOSIET, HUET, and Offshore Medical Certificate preferred.
