Job Description

The Contract Recruiter, APAC (China & Japan Focus) is a hands-on, delivery-driven role responsible for executing end-to-end recruitment across the APAC region, with a primary focus on the China and Japan markets. Based in Shanghai, this contract role plays a critical part in supporting business growth by delivering timely, high-quality hiring outcomes in fast-moving and competitive talent markets.

This role reports into the Recruiting Lead, International, who is responsible for setting overall recruiting strategy. The Senior Recruiter will focus on execution, in-market delivery, and hiring momentum, bringing strong local market knowledge and operational rigor aligned with global best practices to the recruitment process. This is a full time role, in the designated office 5 days per week.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end recruitment across multiple functions within the APAC region, with a primary focus on China and Japan
  • Own full lifecycle recruitment delivery, from role intake and sourcing through offer management
  • Provide practical, delivery-focused guidance to Hiring Managers on candidate quality, hiring progress, and local market realities
  • Actively source, screen, and engage candidates using a mix of direct sourcing, referrals, and local and regional job boards specific to China and Japan, reducing reliance on external recruiting partners
  • Leverage local platforms and channels (e.g., China- and Japan-specific job boards, professional networks, and social platforms) to build strong, relevant candidate pipelines
  • Drive hiring momentum by proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks, escalating risks where needed, and keeping processes moving
  • Ensure accurate and timely recruitment data entry and reporting, supporting global visibility and decision-making
  • Deliver a consistently positive, professional, and locally appropriate candidate experience across all stages of the recruitment lifecycle
  • Utilize company-approved recruiting tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions where appropriate, to improve sourcing efficiency and speed
  • Collaborate closely with global recruitment team, regional HR partners and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth hiring delivery
  • Maintain strong organization and prioritization in a fast-paced, delivery-oriented environment, managing multiple requisitions across markets simultaneously

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree and Minimum 5+ years’ experience in full lifecycle, hands-on recruitment for multinational corporations, with strong delivery experience across China and Japan
  • Corporate / in-house recruitment experience is essential
  • Proven ability to independently manage high-volume or complex requisitions while meeting tight timelines and agreed KPIs
  • Strong working knowledge of local China and Japan talent markets, including sourcing channels, job boards, and candidate engagement practices
  • Demonstrated experience using local job boards and platforms in China and Japan as part of an active sourcing strategy
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with Hiring Managers at varying levels
  • Comfortable operating in a delivery-focused role with limited ambiguity around expectations and outcomes
  • Experience working with recruitment data, ATS systems, and reporting to track progress and identify issues
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, roles, and market conditions
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with attention to detail
  • Fluency in English is required; Mandarin fluency is required; Japanese language capability is strongly preferred
