Job Description

Help keep markets moving by ensuring fixed income trades progress smoothly from execution through settlement. You’ll partner with traders, sales, operations, technology teams, and clients to deliver accurate trade capture, timely confirmation, and disciplined risk controls. This role blends trade support with client service in a fast-paced environment where details matter. If you enjoy problem-solving, prioritizing under deadlines, and improving processes, you’ll thrive here.

As a Fixed Income Middle Office Associate in the Fixed Income Middle Office team, you will support the pre- and post-trade lifecycle across fixed income products, with a focus on Japan Government Bonds (JGBs) and foreign bonds, including outright and repurchase agreement (repo) activity. You’ll help ensure trades are booked accurately, confirmed on time, and ready for settlement, while maintaining strong controls and clear communication with stakeholders. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by reducing manual touchpoints and strengthening end-to-end processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate trade bookings for accuracy (e.g., instrument details, price/yield, notional, settlement date, repo terms, collateral details where applicable).
  • Manage trade lifecycle events (allocations, amendments, cancellations, corrections, rerates, and post-trade adjustments) with appropriate controls and audit trail.
  • Monitor intraday and end-of-day breaks across booking, confirmation, and settlement readiness; drive timely resolution with stakeholders.
  • Partner with operations and settlements teams to ensure trades are settlement-ready (static data checks, exception handling, fail mitigation).
  • Ensure confirmations are issued, matched, and affirmed within required timelines; investigate and resolve discrepancies with clients/counterparties.
  • Support repo processing events (start/close legs, roll/extend events, substitutions where applicable, and alignment of rate/interest accruals).
  • Act as a point of contact for client/counterparty inquiries related to trade status, booking details, settlement readiness, and documentation workflows.
  • Provide clear and timely updates, manage expectations, and escalate aging or higher-risk items with discipline.
  • Perform daily reconciliations and controls (e.g., trade recaps, positions, cash, fails/aged items, exception queues).
  • Identify recurring issues (data quality, workflow gaps, system defects) and contribute to remediation and control enhancements.
  • Support change delivery, including testing/UAT for enhancements and maintaining procedures, runbooks, and knowledge sharing.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Solid understanding of fixed income trade lifecycle and post-trade processing concepts across Outright and Repo.
  • Strong attention to detail, control mindset, and ability to manage time-sensitive workflows in a high-volume environment.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in fluent Japanese and English to engage internal stakeholders and external clients/counterparties.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort navigating multiple booking/confirmation/settlement systems.
