Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fitter - Welder to join our Bin Maintenance team in Christchurch. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various welding and fitting tasks to support our manufacturing operations.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of components
  • Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components and structures
  • Fit and fabricate metal parts and assemblies using cutting, shaping, and forming techniques
  • Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Maintain and operate welding equipment, tools, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to meet production schedules and deadlines

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications
  • Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and machinery
  • Proficiency in fitting and fabrication techniques
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Relevant experience as a fitter-welder or in a similar role
  • Completion of a welding certification program or apprenticeship (preferred)
  • Knowledge of welding materials and their properties
  • Understanding of welding processes and techniques for different materials
  • Familiarity with quality control and inspection procedures
