PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To be responsible for all mechanical work in the identified area of responsibility and to ensure proper maintenance and reliability of plant
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) with Mathematics & Science / N3 trade related subjects is essential (External)
- Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) / with Mathematics & Science N3 trade related subjects Distinct Advantage (Internal)
- Relevant Trade qualification (Section 13 or Section 26D) with proof of recognized completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) is essential
- 3 years' experience working on Concentrator Plant OR 5 years' experience working in underground mining operations OR 5 years' experience working in a Smelting environment is essential
- Solid working experience in a PGM or similar Metallurgical Concentrator Plant, including maintenance, fault finding, and repair of the following equipment
- Ball mill, cone crusher, jaw crusher, Conveyor belts, screens, silos & chutes, Flotation cells and associated systems, Larox filters, thickeners, Slurry pumps, tailings disposal pumps, froth pumps, water reticulation.
- Experience in hydraulic and mechanical fault finding, maintenance planning, and preventative maintenance practices
- Valid driver's license and own transport is essential
- Must be medically fit to work in a mining environment and able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
COMPETENCIES:
- Must be willing to perform standby duties as and when required
- Must have ability to maintain high standard of work
- Must be self-driven and highly motivated
- Experience in acting as Foreman or Second-in-Charge will be an added advantage
KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- General maintenance and running of conveyor belts, pumps, ball mill, floatation, crusher, thickeners, vibrating screens, hydraulic trouble shooting and repairs, tailings and water reticulation infrastructure.
- Pump maintenance and rebuild, including strip-down, inspection, fault diagnosis and reassembly
- Ensure minimum spares of equipment 's are available.
- Perform inspections and ensure good housekeeping in his area of responsibility.
- Identify new opportunities to improve overall equipment availability of the section.
- Enforce compliance with the MHS Act and regulations on this section.
- Ensure that subordinates adhere to all company standards, safe work procedures and compliance with safety
