DEPARTMENT & DOMAIN: BMR ENGINEERING – UTILITIES
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To perform first-line maintenance on mechanical equipment to ensure plant/operations performance is maintained within normal operating parameters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade Certificate in Fitting and Machining essential.
- Relevant experience in a mining/chemical environment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge and understanding of plant equipment and processes.
- Knowledge pertaining to lock-out and isolation procedures.
- Knowledge of principles of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- The ability to follow technical manuals and engineering diagrams.
- Practical and problem-solving skills.
- Medically fit for the Base Metal Refinery (BMR).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct and attend to all mechanical planned and breakdown maintenance.
- Attend to all breakdowns, daily inspections, and new installations.
- Ensure maximum plant availability through proper maintenance.
- Report abnormalities and adjust mechanical equipment operating outside of normal parameters.
- Install and maintain mechanical equipment.
- Adhere to safety and security standards.
- Perform standby duties and overtime when required.
- Promote and maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
