Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate Fitness Trainer to support individuals across the continuum of neuro rehabilitation in both an inpatient rehabilitation setting and an outpatient community gym with a CrossFit-style training model. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about movement, recovery, and helping people rebuild strength, confidence, and independence following neurological injury or illness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead individualized and small-group exercise sessions for patients and community members with neurological conditions and rehabilitation goals.
  • Support functional strength, endurance, mobility, balance, and coordination training in alignment with neuro rehabilitation principles.
  • Work collaboratively with rehabilitation clinicians and other team members to carry out safe, goal-oriented training programs.
  • Adapt exercises and equipment to meet a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory needs.
  • Monitor participant performance, progress, tolerance, and safety during all training sessions.
  • Provide encouragement, education, and accountability to help participants build confidence and long-term wellness habits.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming training environment across both inpatient and outpatient spaces.
  • Document participation, progress, and relevant observations according to organizational expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in personal training, strength and conditioning, corrective exercise, or rehabilitation-based fitness programming.
  • Strong interest in or experience working with individuals with neurological diagnoses such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other complex conditions.
  • Ability to coach movement safely and effectively for participants with varying functional abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Current CNA certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to work in both a clinical inpatient environment and a community-based fitness setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or a related field.
  • Personal training certification from a recognized organization.
  • Experience in adaptive fitness, functional training, or CrossFit-style programming.
  • Previous exposure to inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, or medical fitness settings.
  • Knowledge of neuroplasticity, motor learning, and evidence-informed exercise principles in neurological recovery.

Work Environment

This position spans two unique but complementary environments: an inpatient rehabilitation facility and an outpatient community gym designed around functional, high-engagement training. The ideal candidate is comfortable adjusting coaching style, pace, and programming to meet the needs of individuals at different stages of recovery while maintaining a strong focus on safety, inclusion, and progress.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about helping individuals maximize recovery and performance through movement, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your resume and answer the question in Paylocity outlining your experience and interest in neuro rehabilitation and functional fitness.
