Job Description

The Group Fitness Instructor performs duties independently with guidance under the Wellness Program Manager. The Group Fitness Instructor leads fitness classes at designated JAX sites.

Key Responsibilities

Provide instruction for a variety of fitness classes for employees Monday-Friday, of varying fitness levels, on-site and via live zoom stream if required.

•Ensure participant safety by monitoring techniques and equipment usage.

•Foster an inclusive environment for members.

•Provide modifications necessary based on fitness levels, physical limitations and any health concerns

•Keep current with industry trends and make recommendations for program offerings. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, conferences and workshops.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Well-versed in body mechanics, basic anatomy, kinesiology, exercise modifications for all populations and ACSM guidelines as well as knowledgeable in fitness equipment and injury prevention

Ability to demonstrate and teach exercise technique properly in a group setting.
Practice active listening, adaptability, self-awareness, and effective communication
Nationally accredited certification from one of the following: NASM, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, ISSA
Current CPR/AED certification
Personable; positive attitude; enthusiastic, confident and outgoing personality
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Outstanding customer service skills
Dependable with a strong work ethic

Education Level Required: High School Diploma or GED

Education Level Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Area of Specialization: Fitness Instruction

Certifications:

· Nationally accredited certification from one of the following: NASM, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, ISSA

· Current CPR/AED certification

Experience Required: 1 year

Experience Preferred: 2 years

Pay Range: $21.46 - $29.51
