Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fitness Instructor I to join the dynamic team at J. Thomas Lovell Jr. Community Center. Responsibilities include conducting high intensity group exercise classes in the areas of cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and muscular endurance with warm up and cool down for each class, with emphasis placed on patron service and the retention and promotion of quality programs in the LSPR system.
No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Plans and leads quality exercise classes. Maintains safety in all classes by following LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures. Evaluates fitness classes through observation and direct contact with participants as well as through the use of written surveys. Sets up equipment and stores securely after completion of classes. Maintains cleanliness of the fitness area. Keeps attendance records of patrons in class. Checks instructor bulletin board for updates. Assures proper equipment is available for each program; inspects equipment for damage or disrepair, removes from service as needed, and advises appropriate LSPR staff. Evaluates and makes recommendations for the purchase of new or replacement fitness equipment. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings. Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required; and, Relevant nationally recognized certification, NCCA accredited group exercise certification, or personal training certification; and, Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification required
