Job Description

A Fishmonger attends to the fish preparation needs of guests, including selection, advice, cutting, cleaning, weighing, and packaging. This role reports to the Fresh Market Manager.

  • Assist guests with fish selection and share knowledge of preparation and cooking techniques, providing exceptional guest service
  • Cut, clean, and prepare whole fish and shellfish
  • Cook fish and shellfish for salads and catering dishes
  • Weigh, package, and label fish
  • Display and store food at appropriate temperatures in accordance with Department of Health standards and maintain proper shellfish tag records
  • Stock the counter neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner according to pricing menus, and promptly inform management when fish quantities or supplies are low
  • Clean workstations thoroughly
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Customer service and/or retail sales experience preferred
  • 1+ year of experience working with fresh fish
  • Good knife skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Requirements

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
  • Ability to work with knives, hand tools, utensils, and equipment to cut fish
  • Food Handler’s License

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $21.00/hr-$23.00/hr.
