Job Title: Fiscal Technician
Pay Rate: $20.00
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Job Duties
- Provide administrative and financial support to the Public Utilities Department.
- Process vouchers, purchase orders, invoices, payments, and vendor information.
- Prepare journal entries, budget transfers, inventory control reports, and contract status reports.
- Process and document customer refund requests.
- Create requisitions, change orders, travel vouchers, and financial documentation.
- Communicate with employees and vendors regarding policies, procedures, and financial transactions.
- Assist with audit and financial reporting documentation, including CAFR support.
- Purchase office and departmental supplies and monitor purchase order requests.
- Perform data entry, maintain spreadsheets, and retrieve financial information.
- Provide back-up support to other fiscal staff and assist with additional departmental needs as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, fiscal support, or related experience.
- Experience processing invoices, purchase orders, payments, and financial records.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and office administration practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and spreadsheet management.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience working with financial reporting, vendor management, and database systems preferred.
