Duties and Responsibilities
(NOTE: **denotes Essential Functions)
**Develops, designs and prepares special reports, data extracts and projects as assigned to facilitate system-wide compliance monitoring and various requests (i.e. sponsors, legislature, management).
**Conducts compliance reviews and monitoring of various aspects of contracts/grants administration, including service centers and other business related systems.
**Assists with the preparation of audit schedules, including the Schedule or Expenditures of Federal Awards.
**Provides guidance and assistance to the field on contracts/grants compliance related issues.
**Performs subrecipient monitoring activities including risk assessments, review of Single Audits and other applicable information.
**Establishes subawards in the research administration system, reviews subaward agreements and negotiates with subrecipients.
**Administers annual Effort Certifications, Cost Share Effort Certifications and other internal control monitoring activities as assigned.
**Assists with the coordination of information requests for our annual Single Audit and other sponsor reviews/audits
**Compiles corrective action responses to audit findings and recommendations.
**Participates in the development, testing, and implementation of improvements to the UH financial system and other research administration systems.
**Prepares reports and collects information requested by sponsors, management and others as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned to ensure financial compliance over extramural awards.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for accounting or auditing; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the field of extramural award administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with extramural award administration, including accounting and compliance matters.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications
Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for compliance with government financial regulations.
Prior audit experience.
Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance).
Prior experience with various UH financial systems (i.e. Kuali Financial Systems, Jaspersoft, RCUH Financial Portal).
