About This Role:

In this role, you will provide critical support across all DSS program areas, including Child Protective Services, Advocacy, Prevention & Protection, Homeless Services, the Children's Services Act (CSA), Public Assistance, Customer Support & Service, and Family Support Services. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and values accuracy, efficiency, and outstanding service.

This position requires a team player who is willing to support and provide coverage for other team members as needed, which may periodically include assisting with office coverage for Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card issuance during business hours.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, procurement card (P-Card) administration, financial systems such as Mobius or similar software, and accounting best practices. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to meeting deadlines in a fast-paced team environment. We are seeking a proactive individual who is willing to go above and beyond to support both colleagues and customers.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of experience completing finance-related tasks and providing guidance to internal and external customers.

Preferences:

  • 5 years of experience performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Experience with Mobius System or similar Oracle-based financial software
  • Experience in processing payroll using an automated system
  • Experience participating in audits and applying accounting best practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies & procedures (County, State & Federal)
  • Skilled in using MS Excel

Special Requirements:

  • Resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster-care program may not be employed by the Prince William Department of Social Services. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply.
  • All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
  • Candidates must pass criminal history, child protective services, and DMV background checks.
  • Staff in this position must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday - 37.5 hours - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a telework-eligible role that requires 1 to 2 days per week at the Ferlazzo office in Woodbridge, VA, with specific in-office days determined by the manager.

This is a telework-eligible role that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change. Employees who telework must have adequate workspace and internet connection.

Starting Hourly Pay Range: $28.32 to $40.69
