The Fiscal Assistant Veteran Directed Care Taxes provides support to the VDC Tax Management, Bay Aging’s Finance Department, with focus on the Veteran Directed Care program. VDC Tax supports the Bay Aging Fiscal-Employer Agent entity for oversight of all tax accounts and related taxes and filings. Pay rate: $20.50/hr. Reports to Tax Manager, Finance Dept.
Essential functions
1. Establish employer tax accounts (60%):
2.Review and submit power of attorney documents for veteran employers and support the remittance of state, and local payroll taxes and payroll reporting. (15%):
3. Data updates. (15%):
- Will regularly pull the Consumer List report for withholding accounts and Fiscal Agent E-filing Proof report to determine when employers have met the SUTA tax threshold after each pay period and reviewing wage reports to determine discrepancies before year end. Will assist with renewal of expiring tax documents for employers. Will be responsible for closing all tax accounts and revoking POA documents for closed employers. Will oversee annual update of full exemptions for federal, state, and local taxes for all affected employees.
4. Miscellaneous (10%):
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of General Accounting principles and proficiency in the use of Excel (e.g., formulas, reports, graphs, QuickBooks, and CYMA.

Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 20lbs, walking and climbing stairs). No independent travel required around the area served by Bay Aging. None of the essential functions of the position can be performed remotely.
High School Graduate with a minimum of three to five years’ experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field a plus. Education may be substituted for experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.
