About the Role

You will play a key part in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time. Working within the Family Help MASH (Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub), you will be the first point of contact for new information, concerns, and requests for support. Your work will help identify needs early, safeguard children, and connect families with the most appropriate services.

What you’ll be doing

  • Screening incoming contacts and referrals to understand the needs and circumstances of children and families.
  • Assessing eligibility for Family Help, Adolescence and Early Help services by using the continuum of need for guidance.
  • Identifying any safeguarding concerns and escalating appropriately.
  • Recording information and decision‑making clearly, accurately, and in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Making timely referrals to internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated support.
  • Providing high‑quality signposting to community, voluntary, and universal services when formal intervention is not required.
  • Working collaboratively with professionals across education, health, police, and social care to gather information and support effective decision‑making.
  • Contributing to a responsive, child‑centred service that promotes early intervention and positive outcomes

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children, young people, or families in a support, early help, or safeguarding context.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information quickly and confidently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to record information clearly and professionally.
  • Confidence working in a fast‑paced, multi‑agency environment.
  • A calm, solution‑focused approach and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and thresholds (training can be provided).
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and voice of children and families.
  • Level 3 qualified or equivalent
