Make a Difference in Your Community

MSS Security is seeking compassionate, professional, and culturally aware individuals to join our team as First Nations Liaison Officers (FNLOs) supporting the Transperth rail network.This rewarding role provides an opportunity to support First Nations people and other vulnerable members of the community while contributing to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive public transport environment. Working across train stations and onboard rail services, you will engage with customers, build positive relationships, and provide valuable assistance to those requiring support.

About the Role

As a First Nations Liaison Officer, you will be a visible and approachable presence throughout the rail network. You will work closely with Transit Officers, Revenue Protection Officers, Customer Service teams, emergency services, and community support organisations to provide culturally appropriate assistance, de-escalate situations, and connect individuals with the services they need. You may be called upon to assist people experiencing challenges such as homelessness, family or domestic violence, mental health concerns, medical issues, and other vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to passengers and visitors across the rail network.
  • Engage with First Nations people and provide a trusted point of contact for those seeking assistance.
  • Patrol train stations and travel on train services throughout the network.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from operational staff.
  • Support vulnerable and at-risk individuals by connecting them with appropriate support services.
  • Assist Transit Officers and other operational teams when required.
  • Help de-escalate incidents through effective communication and relationship building.
  • Report suspicious, anti-social, or concerning behaviour to relevant authorities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organisations, outreach services, shelters, charities, and emergency services.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all customers.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting First Nations communities.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Experience working in community services, security, customer service, social support, youth work, health care, or a related field (highly regarded).
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to cultural awareness, inclusion, and community engagement.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
