employment barriers? Saltbush is seeking dedicated and culturally aware Mentors to join our Employment Services team in Darwin.
Position Details:
This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).
This position is only open to male applicants due to a genuine occupational qualification (GOQ) under Section 30 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and Section 35 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 (NT), as permitted by our contract for the Reconnection, Employment and Learning (REAL) Program to ensure culturally appropriate service delivery.

The Role: As a Mentor within Employment Services at Saltbush, you will play a vital role in empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve sustainable employment.
You will be a consistent and trusted presence, forming strong professional relationships that support individuals in setting and reaching meaningful personal goals.
The role is designated for a person of Aboriginal heritage to be
part of the team that will be working directly for the advancement of local Aboriginal community members.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally safe
approach, you will mentor and coach participants through life and employment challenges, facilitating learning, self-awareness and positive behavioural change.
This role requires an understanding of the multiple and complex
employment barriers many people face working with a case load of individuals.
Your role is central to supporting long-term outcomes that create
lasting change, not just for individuals, but for families and communities.
As a Saltbush Mentor you will be an effective and positive force,
willingly embracing our collaborative approach towards developing ever more
effective employment services.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.
We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
